Work Experience

Independent Consultant (May 2022 to April 2024)

Ruby on Rails, HTML/JS
Worked on several different aspects of the client's AI Powered Customer Intelligence platform. This was a Ruby on Rails shop. Worked on the pipeline for pulling in and processing data from various data sources, and a web frontend for presenting reports on and searching the data. The work involved bringing the code up to modern conventions, building tools for back-filling past data and some UI work with a custom in house jQuery based framework.

Gojek (Oct 2019 to Dec 2021)

Ruby on Rails, Elixir, Kafka
Helped develop and maintain CRUD API's, and plumbing for keeping read-only caches in sync with databases, for Merchant Identity team. Gained experience working with high throughput services, developed an appreciation for distributed services communicating asynchronously via messages. Played a role in the internalization effort for Merchant Platform team, in helping find and implement performance improvements with API's used during Merchant login to the mobile application, in migrating several critical APIs off of legacy monolith service to newer purpose built microservices and the usual feature enhancements.

Activesphere (May 2016 to Sept 2019)

Worked as a consultant with clients on diverse projects and technologies. Learned the ropes of working as part of a team and became comfortable picking up new codebases/technologies.

Scripbox

Elixir, React Native, Ruby on Rails

Helped with creating and maintaining a platform for creating and serving targeted Nudge Ads. The work involved adding features based around allowing the end user’s ability to define and edit target segments as required, both React UI and Phoenix based backend work. Also helped create new feature flows on their React Native based mobile apps.

Pasarpolis

Golang, Kubernetes

Was part of the two-person team that created an API platform for creating insurance policies with various providers and allow a user to make claims. The work involved creating a Golang service that could serve as a platform for creating insurance policies for several different products and with several different providers, also created APIs to allow a user to make claims on their policies and was also involved in bringing up a Kubernetes cluster for the involved services on GKE.

React, Django

Did UI work on a web-app used for finding and booking homestays. Was responsible for porting a fairly complex Angular JS based web app to React, making it more robust, adding new features to it and some work on the Django based backend.

I have achived Java related certifications from Oracle related to Core Java, Java Persistence API and Enterprise JavaBeans.

Formal Education

I completed my schooling with a Higher Secondary Certificate from Gujarat Education Board.
I joined and dropped out of a B.Tech course on Electronics and Communication without completing it.
